"7 Warning Signs of the Spirit of Jezebel: Are You Being Manipulated?"

Here are some common signs or traits are associated with this spirit, as outlined in the New King James Version (NKJV) of the Bible.

  1. Manipulation and control: The spirit of Jezebel is often associated with manipulative and controlling behavior, where a person may use deceit or flattery to get what they want and to maintain power or influence over others. In 1 Kings 21, we see Jezebel manipulating her husband, King Ahab, to take possession of Naboth's vineyard. She lies to Ahab, telling him that he can have the vineyard, and then arranges for false witnesses to testify against Naboth so that he is stoned to death. This is just one example of the kind of deceit and manipulation that may be associated with the spirit of Jezebel.

  2. Narcissism: Jezebel is often seen as a self-centered and egotistical figure who places her own desires and interests above the needs of others. In Revelation 2:20, Jesus rebukes the church in Thyatira for tolerating a woman who calls herself a prophetess and teaches and seduces God's servants to commit sexual immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols. Jesus identifies this woman as "Jezebel," and accuses her of having a self-centered and narcissistic attitude, saying, "I have a few things against you, because you allow that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, to teach and seduce My servants to commit sexual immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols" (Revelation 2:20, NKJV).

  1. Sexual immorality: Some interpretations of the spirit of Jezebel suggest a connection to sexual immorality and the use of sex as a means of control or manipulation. In 1 Kings 16:31-33, we see that Jezebel was the daughter of Ethbaal, king of the Sidonians, and that she married King Ahab of Israel. Jezebel brought with her the worship of the Sidonian goddess Ashtoreth, which was associated with sexual immorality and fertility. Jezebel is also accused of seducing God's servants to commit sexual immorality in Revelation 2:20, as noted above.

  2. Rebellion against authority: Jezebel is associated with a spirit of rebellion against those in positions of authority, whether in the context of the church or more broadly in society. In 1 Kings 21, we see Jezebel defying the authority of God's law and of the king's court by arranging for Naboth to be falsely accused and put to death. Jezebel is also known for killing the prophets of the Lord and attempting to wipe out God's worship from Israel (1 Kings 18:4, 13).

  3. Witchcraft and divination: The spirit of Jezebel is sometimes associated with the use of witchcraft, sorcery, or divination to achieve its goals. In 2 Kings 9, Jezebel is portrayed as a witch who uses her powers to manipulate and control King Ahab and the people of Israel. She is also associated with false prophets who practice divination and lead people astray from the truth of God's word (1 Kings18:19-40).

  4. Deception and lying: Jezebel is often associated with deception and lying. In 1 Kings 21, we see Jezebel using deceit to obtain Naboth's vineyard, as described earlier. She also lies to Elijah the prophet, telling him that she intends to kill him, when in fact she is more interested in preserving her own power and influence (1 Kings 19:2).

  5. Jealousy and revenge: Finally, the spirit of Jezebel is often associated with jealousy and a desire for revenge against those who oppose or challenge her authority. In 1 Kings 19:1-3, Jezebel is shown as being jealous of the prophet Elijah and seeking revenge against him after he defeats the prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel. She sends a message to Elijah saying that she will have him killed, and Elijah flees for his life.

It is important to note that while these traits may be associated with the spirit of Jezebel, they are not necessarily exclusive to it.
