I love researching the bible and finding stories of women that are present, But are not often told. So I want to share this one with you. Be sure to check the scriptures for yourself after having read this.
In the Bible, Dinah is the daughter of Jacob and Leah, and she appears in the Book of Genesis. Dinah is born to Jacob and Leah, and she is their only daughter. Dinah grows up and becomes very beautiful. One day, Dinah goes out to visit the women of the land, and she is seen by Shechem, the son of the ruler of the city of Shechem. Shechem is immediately attracted to Dinah and wants to marry her.
Shechem's father, Hamor, goes to Jacob and asks for Dinah's hand in marriage. Jacob agrees, on the condition that the men of Shechem be circumcised. The men of Shechem agree to be circumcised, and Dinah is given to Shechem in marriage. However, Dinah's brothers, Simeon and Levi, are angry that their sister has been given to a foreigner, and they plot to take revenge on the people of Shechem. When the men of Shechem are recovering from their circumcision, Simeon and Levi attack the city, killing all the men and taking Dinah back.
Jacob is angry with Simeon and Levi for their actions, and he fears that the people of the surrounding area will now be hostile towards him. It is a story of love, jealousy, and violence. All I can say is Dinah brothers didn't play about her!! Cuz wheew!! They cut up real bad... I mean real bad.
