"Put it on the altar" The Power of Prayer: By Lora D. Charles

When I was growing up I use to hear the women in church say "pray about it". Sometimes it would make me mad cuz I was more of a "do something about it" child. A live mess with a strong sense of unstoppable and invincible. My parents and siblings built me. I have been blaming them for some of my crazy behaviors in the past once my eyes came open to myself. Now that I grown and awakened I see myself as one of those church women saying "Pray bout it" (Slang). I decided in my on life I would say "Put it on the altar" if it catch fire and burn up it was Gods will. I am firm believer that there is power in prayer.

As women, we often face a variety of challenges in our daily lives. From balancing our responsibilities to managing our relationships, it can be overwhelming. But as Christians, we know that we have a powerful tool at our disposal: prayer. In this blog post, we will explore what the Bible has to say about the power of prayer.

The Bible is filled with verses that speak of the importance and power of prayer. One of the most well-known verses is Philippians 4:6-7 which says, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." This verse reminds us that prayer is not only a way to communicate with God but it also brings peace and understanding to our minds and hearts.

Another verse that speaks to the power of prayer is James 5:16, "The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective." This verse reminds us that when we pray in alignment with God's will, our prayers are powerful and effective in bringing about change.

Another important aspect of prayer is understanding that prayer is not only asking God for things but it's also about building a deeper relationship with Him. John 15:7 says, "If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you." This verse reminds us that when we draw close to God and align our hearts with His, He will hear and answer our prayers.

In addition to these verses, there are many others throughout the Bible that offer guidance and encouragement for the power of prayer. For example, 1 John 5:14-15 says, "This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him." This verse reminds us that when we pray in alignment with God's will, we can have confidence that He hears and answers our prayers.

Know this, as women, we will face many challenges in our daily lives, but as Christians, we know that we have a powerful tool at our disposal: prayer. The Bible offers us many verses that speak of the importance and power of prayer. By understanding that prayer is not only asking God for things but it's also about building a deeper relationship with Him and praying in alignment with His will, we can tap into the power of prayer in our lives. Put it on the altar!!

Lets pray

Lord, thank you for the power of prayer. Help us to remember to come to you in all things, big and small. Give us the courage to be persistent in prayer, knowing that you hear us and that you are working on our behalf. Amen.

Love, Lora
